I am challenged in the available time I have for music listening and I will
buy an album based on a sampler (or I'll admit to receiving and making the
odd mix tape of my favorites or others' favorites). I've been known to buy
one album based on a sampler and then by them all...or on a recommendation
I'll buy one and then a whole bunch.

As I was getting back into listening to folk music a couple of years ago
(after a musical void) "Ring Them Bells" by Joan Baez was the best sampler
I found--it led me to Tish Hinojosa and Dar Williams...and I have all of
the albums.

A recommendation by Mike Regenstreif led me to Herdman-Hills-Mangsen and I
have all of the albums. I bought one and then most.

A sample tape and a few things led me to buying all of Eileen McGann's
discography...it goes on and on.

I also buy samplers that have non-album cuts of the artists that I collect.

Cheers!

Richard
