I'm really pleased that William Jackson, one of Scotland's finest
instrumentalists, will be performing at a house concert at my house on
Thursday, May 14th! He's perhaps best known as one of the founding members
of Ossian, but has built up a considerable reputation as a soloist as well.
Although best known as a harpist, William will be traveling with harp,
whistles, and perhaps pipes, on this tour.
This should be a truly amazing house concert!

WILLIAM JACKSON
will be performing at a
House Concert
in BERKELEY
on Thursday, May 14th
at 8:00PM
In a rare visit to the Bay Area, this internationally renowned Scottish
performer will be giving an even rarer house concert performance!
Internationally known composer and multi-instrumentalist William Jackson
has been at the forefront of Scottish music for over 20 years. In 1976 he
was a founding member of the top Scottish band Ossian. He has toured and
recorded with Ossian extensively throughout Europe and North America. He
has 17 albums to his credit - 8 with Ossian, 5 solo, and 4 compilation
albums. His 6th solo album will be released immanently.
William's main instrument is the Scottish harp or clarsach. He also plays
the wire strung harp, flute, whistle, Uillean pipes and piano. He has had
a close involvement in composing for and performing with the Royal Scottish
National Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
William's concerts are a combination of traditional and original pieces,
played on a variety of instruments: harp, flute, whistles, and Uillean
pipes. He shares his wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of
Scotland and Ireland, providing insightful information about the
traditional tunes and about the inspiration for his original compositions.
He entertains his audience as he joyfully shares personal anecdotes,
stories and old Celtic tales.
This rare house concert performance by one of Scotland's finest harpists
and composers is sure to be a memorable evening!
