According to the lines accompanying the CD, John wrote Dead
Man Walking after reading the book on which the film was
based. No connection to the sound track. BTW I highly
recommend the CD (which John released with Tom Chapin).
Besides Dead Man Walking, a haunting and thought-provoking
song, there is a wonderful re-working of Woodie Guthrie's
pastures of plenty.
