TROUT FISHING IN AMERICA will be joined on our January 9-16, 1999, Folk
Cruise of the Eastern, Caribbean by Israel's DAVID BROZA, SARA HICKMAN,
BUDDY MONDLOCK and CAROL ELLIOTT aboard the Holland America's ms WESTERDAM,
one of the loveliest ships we've ever seen. We sale out of Ft. Lauderdale to
NASSAU, SAN JUAN PUERTO RICO, ST. THOMAS in the American Virgin Islands, and
finally to Holland America's own island HALF MOON CAY. The ship offers
Holland America's tradition of excellence. From bow to stern she offers one
beautiful venue after another. Each room studded with fine art and museum
quality antiques. There are seven lounges, three fine restaurants, and
spacious staterooms which are priced for three budgets at a considerable
discount off the published rates as we have bought 40 cabins a year in
advance. The ship is small enough that you will see your friends and get to
know personally the staff who serve you. Up on deck, the ship has been
painstakingly designed for passenger comfort. Lots of open sunlit spaces,
wide teak decks, polished brass and all of the touches that make for a
feeling of well being. The food is superb and there is a wide choice at
every meal, plus complimentary room service by just picking up the phone.
Buffets, ice cream bars, and a beach party and barbecue on Half Moon Cay are
all part of having what you want when you want it. The on board
entertainment, in addition to the two two-hour concerts by our five folk
stars and the informal picking parties, is excellent with lively revues
produced by numerous Emmy, Tony, Grammy and Oscar nominated Professionals.
It is a different world from Kerrville, with amazing illusionists, top-name
vocalists, hilariously funny humorists, and, on our recent inspection
cruise, a company of eight remarkable dancers Then, there is the casino
where I won repeatedly on the slot machines.
Going ashore at our four ports is an invigorating adventure! NASSAU, capital
of NEW PROVIDENCE ISLAND, with its colonial architecture, the QUEEN'S
STAIRCASE, FORT-FIN CASTLE; SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO, with its lovely harbor
dominated by SAN FILIPE DEL MORRO FORTRESS, OLD SAN JUAN, and carefully
preserved buildings such as CHURCH OF SAN JOSE and HOUSE OF THE BUTTRESSES;
ST. THOMAS, once home port for infamous pirates, whose warehouses are now
shops lining the harbor; and HALF MOON CAY, a spectacular crescent-shaped,
white sandy beach island with snorkeling among the brilliant tropical fish.
