Nationally and internationally renown recording artist Pete
Seeger, Paul
Geremia and James Montgomery have recently added their names in support of The
1 of 52 Artist Hunger Network. This ongoing grassroots network is organizing
52 regional and national artists in each state, each representing one week of
the year, who take action annually to help end hunger.
American music legend Pete Seeger is participating in the The 1 of
52 Artist
Hunger Network by supporting local food banks in his home state of New York.
Mr. Seegerís 1 of 52 Hunger Actions will be ongoing as his lifelong work for
human rights and dignity continues.
Paul Geremia and James Montgomery performed their 1st annual 1 of
52 Hunger
Events on March 24th and 31st at the historic Greenwich Odeum Theatre in East
Greenwich, RI. These ëFor Foodí events were organized by fellow 1 of 52 Hunger
Artist Chuck Smith to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, a Second
Harvest network food bank. Chuck sets a great example of thinking globally and
acting locally by staging hunger events throughout the year as part of his
participation in the 1 of 52 Artist Hunger Network.
A working model program has been set up in Rhode Island with 30 of
52 weeks
already assigned and 1 of 52 Chapters have been started in 6 other states to
date. As each of Americaís 50 states has their network of 52 hunger artists
put in place, the momentive impact of this national movement to end hunger
will accumulate slowly, but surely. Inspiring a groundswell of public interest
and involvement by the example set by these hunger artists an integral part of
this plan.
