Let's not forget David Wilcox's "East Asheville Hardware"
in which an angel plays the central role of the protagonists's
revelation .....

"An angel appeared in a holy, vision.
Stood by my bed-side in the shivering light.
Spoke my name. Told me my mission.
I could not believe I was hearing him right.
Cause he said go. My son, go .....

[Alan sez: Good point, I guess that we might also include the first song of the new Ceili Rain album, "That's all the lumber you sent", all about a guy who gets to heaven and meets St. Peter at the gate. He then discovers (much to his chagrin) that your home in heaven is built of all the good deeds that you accomplished in your time on earth.

Bob Halligan, the songwriter, has had about 150 cuts with various artist and most recently enjoyed good success with Kathy Mattea's cover of his song "Love Travels".]
